#TCEL CLESON FULL#
I had done my first undergrad as a full time commuter student also managing a restaurant and am considering working PRN in the hospital as a student nurse tech. I chose to quite working at the start of the semester to get a feel for the program. Several of my classmates had jobs this last semester (our “first” semester), and everyone did fine and kept up, but not without lots of effort. Classes were roughly 1k each and I took 2 through them (one of which I ended up not needing and only notified the last week of the class). Having done my undergrad in California, and only being an SC resident for <6 months at time of acceptance, I opted for SNHU online.

If you have any other questions just let me know!Īnother question for you- what school did you go through for prerequisites? I'm looking at portage learning right now, but would love to find something even more affordable.Īlso, is it possible to work a part time job while in the program? I'm so excited to be accepted but I want to make sure its possible financially.Ĭongrats on getting in! - had recommended Portage Learning for a few prerequisites but the ones I needed were not available there. I saw my acceptance through the portal by Thanksgiving weekend, and nothing really started happening until a few months later when we got more info as far as what else was required before the start of the program (Vaccinations, BLS certification, private insurance requirements, etc). Cynthia would be your contact for getting more info on this process and getting the specific emails you would need far as the process of getting in, it was straight forward. I submitted my application late as I was relocating from California to Greenville, SC right as the application was closing. There is a process involved to override the prerequisites, but it involves emailing the individual Dean's of the departments with the syllabi from the courses you took to gain approval. If your classes are not coming up on TCEL, it does not automatically mean that it won't be accepted. It was about 6k that Summer before to take those classes online. The Summer semester before the "official" program begins, the whole cohort has to take Research and Writing, as those two classes are described as Clemson specific. That would be my biggest word of advice before applying to the program, ensuring that you won't have too many classes you have to scramble to take/retake the Summer before. (scroll down and click the Orange "Visit the Clemson TCEL" button) They will only automatically accept what they have available in TCEL, which you can look up here: They also are pretty strict on the Literature component and had to scramble to take that as well. If you weren't already aware of the required classes, here is the link:Įven with my degree in Sociology and my extensive amount of credits dedicated to qualitative and quantitative research, my classes were denied so I had to take that before the program began. They initially accept over 30, but with the transfer requirements being so specific, I would say that 26 of us stuck it through. That being said, even with getting into the program, I still have no idea of where I stood in the mix. & if you choose to submit an essay, they will use that to determine as well. They also factor in your science and statistics class grades. The information for acceptance is limited, but I was told before applying that the GPA portion is split between overall GPA and last 60 credits GPA. Hi Denaja, I am in the first semester of the Second Degree track, and can answer whatever questions you have. Is anyone else having a similar experience? I was super excited last week, and now today I have nothing but anxiety over this potential situation. If this is true, then there are about 7 prerequisites that aren't satisfied, and it seems odd that I would be accepted is this is truly the case. As I was reviewing my transfer credits through the portal, I noticed that many courses I was assuming would translate to satisfying specific prerequisites are only coming up a Transfer Electives. I have already reached out regarding the Research Methods, as I took a similar course with the same name for my sociology degree. Apparently most of the cohort will need to take these courses over the Summer before the official start of the program, myself included. Hey, hoping more will reach out now that decisions have gone out! I was notified that I got in for Summer 2021, and was told in an email blast today that this is because of the university specific Writing and Research Methods courses.
